Dog Save The People Podcast

Dog Save The People podcast is a podcast about how dogs make our lives better. In over 150 interviews to date, we have featured guests from everyday people to heartwarming stories about people and their emotional connection to dogs through the beautifully authentic podcast medium.

The show features dogs from all breeds, shapes, sizes, and walks of life and people from a mix of backgrounds, locations, and professions. Dogs have the ability to help us all see the world in a new way, with more exciting and curious eyes.


Featured Host - Dr. Sharon Holland

Dr. Sharon Holland is a Distinguished Professor of American Studies at the University of North Carolina (UNC). She teaches a popular class on animal studies, where Sharon challenges students to re-think the way we co-exist with other beings in the world through philosophical discussions. Her most recent book, an other: a black feminist consideration of animal life, explores this concept from a personal perspective as well. She is a lifelong equestrian, who has found strong connections with both horses and dogs. Sharon currently lives in North Carolina with her two rescues: Winnie, a senior lab mix, and Saol Sa'ed, a German Shepherd / Husky / Cattle puppy.

Sharon was previously a former guest of Dog Save The People and is now the primary current host of the show.


Past Host - John Bartlett

John Bartlett is a graduate of Harvard University and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). He is a CFDA award-winning fashion designer. John Bartlett created his own eponymous “John Bartlett” Men’s Fashion collection in the early ‘90s. He grew popular in the fashion industry, won several prestigious industry awards, showing in many New York Fashion Weeks, and having his own flagship boutique store in Manhattan. Later, he also created a specialty line of dog-themed apparel and accessories with profits supporting his “Tiny Tim Rescue Fund” (named after his former three-legged rescue dog and hairy soulmate of the same name).

As the original host of the podcast, John interviewed over 100 guests for Dog Save The People which you can still enjoy in our archive.


Additional Contributing Hosts

Dr. Chris Blazina is a licensed psychologist and author based in New Mexico. Through his work, he came to recognize the importance of animal companions in the lives of men, especially dogs. Dr. Blazina has written several books on his studies, including his most recent One Unwavering Friend about historical male figures and the significance of dogs in their lives. He has recently started to host select episodes.

Nina May is a UK-based writer and Founder & Editor of Wunderdog Magazine, a publication featuring rescue dog stories. The print magazine is distributed in outlets such as Barnes & Noble and other stockists across the globe. She has served as a European Correspondent for Dog Save The People.

Ellen Ballon Dante is the Co-Founder of the Deity Animal Rescue & Foundation and is an an LA-based jewelry designer. Her and her partner Lindsay Bird’s designs and curated dog gifts are sold online and through their boutique shop in Beverly Hills, where all profits from the retail sales go to support the animal rescue. They have contributed as a West Coast Correspondent for the podcast.
