Going Undercover To Help Dogs Became The Mission of Pete Paxton, Which In Turn Saved Him

About The Episode

Growing up in the South (USA), Pete had a family dog as a kid who he grew up with and who was an important part of his development. As he got older, Pete faced some bullying issues, which made him more empathetic for dogs and other animals who were going through that in their own world.

This made such an impact on Pete that he decided to make it his mission to do what he could to help. After initially being interested in law enforcement or the FBI, he eventually realized that the undercover world was the best fit for him. However, at the time, he had no investigative research experience. He was able to secure a job working with a Private Investigator (P.I).

Eventually, Pete became “America’s leading undercover animal investigator” and has infiltrated more than 700 puppy mills. This includes closing one of the largest and most infamous puppy mills in the United States and the most notorious trafficker of dogs for experimentation in history.

In his new book, Rescue Dogs: Where They Come From, Why They Act the Way They Do, and How to Love Them Well, he shares different stories of the dogs he’s rescued and why you should consider adopting a rescue dog instead of getting one from a breeder (as well as just general information to know in getting a dog).

Currently, Pete is living with a dog named Floyd who just turned 17 years old. While Floyd is blind, he’s still a ball of energy who keeps Pete going. (Disclaimer: Pete Paxton is a pseudonym, due to the nature of the undercover work he does)
